Adopt Don't Shop

Across the UK, there are hundreds of small pets waiting and hoping to find new homes and a second chance at a happy life.

If you are prepared to make the commitment to giving a small pet their forever home, please look at adopting from a rescue centre rather than buying from a pet store.

Reputable rescue centres are commited to ensuring the best for the animals in their care. They will make sure all animals have received appropriate medical checks and, if necessary, treatment from qualified veterinarians before adoption.

They will also provide guidance and support to prospective owners to make sure their new pet has a suitable living space, access to the right foods that meet nutritional requirements and plenty of enrichment.

Many pet stores obtain their 'stock' from bulk breeders. Often these animals are sold on with underlying heath conditions and without adequate advice to support owners in making sure their new pet has a suitable environment, food and enrichment.
